چکیده

Deformation-induced martensitic transformation as the basis of a hardening process is dependent, among others, on stress state. In applications such cryogenic cutting, where hardened subsurface can be produced in metastable austenitic steels, different states exist. Furthermore, cutting typically occurs at high strain rates greater than 103s?1. order to gain deeper insight into behavior steel (AISI 304) upon influence under loading conditions was analyzed. It observed that higher lead decrease ??-martensite content if exposed tensile loads due generated adiabatic heat. lath-like induced. Under shear stress, no suppression formation by found. A lath formed, too. specimens were subjected exclusively compressive loading, almost present. The surface experiments showed deformation lines which formed wave-like shape. As for specimens, more with increasing rate, i.e., force. Additionally, magnetic etching proved an effective method verify ferromagnetic ??-martensite.

Strain-Induced Martensite Transformation Simulations during Cold Rolling of AISI 301 Austenitic Stainless Steel

Austenite is a semi-stable phase in most stainless steels that deforms to martensite under Md30 and forms martensitetype ά and ε due to the deformation in the steels. Since the distribution of strain induced martensite plays animportant role in achieving desired properties, the main objective of the present work is to model martensitedistribution of ά during cold rolling using...

Solid-state experiments at high pressure and strain rate*

Experiments have been developed using high powered laser facilities to study the response of materials in the solid state under extreme pressures and strain rates. Details of the target and drive development required for solid-state experiments and results from two separate experiments are presented. In the first, thin foils were compressed to a peak pressure of 180 GPa and accelerated. A pre-i...

Characteristic Points of Stress-Strain Curve at High Temperature

Determination of critical points on hot stress-strain curve of metals is crucial in thermo-mechanical processes design. In this investigation a mathematical modeling is given to illustrate the behavior of metal during hot deformation processes such as hot rolling. The critical strain for the onset of dynamic recrystallization has been obtained as a function of strain at the maximum stress. In a...

Rate dependent of strength in metallic glasses at different temperatures

The correlation between the strength at the macroscale and the elastic deformation as well as shear cracking behavior at the microscale of bulk metallic glasses (BMGs) is investigated. The temperatures of 298 K and 77 K as well as the strain rate ranging from 10(-6) s(-1) to 10(-2) s(-1) are applied to the BMGs, in which the mechanical responses of the BMGs are profiled through the compression ...
